Welcome

Thank you for visiting my video blog. My name is Dave Alegre, the artist behind most of the videos you see here. Seventeen years ago I taped and edited my first project and it has been twelve years since I taped my first official wedding. It has been a challenging and exciting journey for my family and me. This career has allowed me to create countless memories for people around the world. It has allowed me to travel to destinations from Hawaii, the Bahamas and as far as Italy, but most of all it has allowed me to meet my beautiful wife, Grace.

What is the purpose of my video blog? I’m a storyteller at heart, but rather than writing, I like to use images—combining movement and audio. Here I will post current and past projects that showcase you – my family, friends and clients. For my videos that date back as far as the early 90’s, I never had the opportunity to do this because the technology never existed. Today I can, I may even post my own experimental home videos that I learned from – depending on how embarassing they might be! You’ll be able to watch the progression of quality and creativity in my craft. My hope is that this blog will keep you entertained. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If that’s the case, then a video is worth a billion!

If you like what you see and feel when you watch these videos, then hire us. We are available to travel anywhere around the world for your hometown or destination wedding.

Most videos will be posted at their fullest length, if you want to watch short samples, view my trailers on our website link at the top of this blog. Enjoy!

Scott Hayne Photography Promo Video 2

Before you push play, crank up your computer sound system half way and feel what Scott Hayne Photography has to offer!

Scott Hayne Photography Promo 2 from Visionary Productions on Vimeo.

Royalty free music designed in Sonicfire Pro.

What is my favorite part? Scott Hayne walking in slow motion during the end of the video.

What was most technical? Layering video clips with the pictures.

Hardest part? Editing time and weeding through the 10 hours of footage.

This was one of the most challenging promo videos I have ever edited. Now its time to go to sleep! :)

Final Cut Pro Workshop At Apple Store

Boy, I’m so technical with video and can figure most things out, but I’m so confused with just posting pictures on my blog! I’m one of those kind of guys who never reads directions. Now that I finally figured it out, I can post stills. How exciting!

This summer, I had a great opportunity to share some of my knowledge at the Apple store MacArthur Mall in Norfolk, Virginia. It was such a joy to finally teach a few tricks that I know about editing on Final Cut Pro as well as some camera techniques. I hope one day to teach when I retire from this business. But for now, I’m going to keep searching ways to push the envelope. It’s the only way to keep things interesting–by learning and discovering more. I get bored very easily and it’s important to do things different each time. It’s all about taking it to the next level.

Well, I want to thank Doug Clarke and all the guests who attended the Apple workshop. I hope I can do it again soon–and I will teach it differently, too, to keep it interesting for everyone!

Jhena & Adam’s Same Day Edit Video Presentation During The Reception (HD)

Another successful same-day edit! I would say that creating a same-day edit would be the most difficult situation for any wedding videographer. After the wedding, I only had a few hours to edit the wedding footage for Jhena and Adam’s hundreds of waiting guests to see. No room for error or equipment failure in this situation! With proper planning, reliable equipment and experience we pulled it off…again. I want to thank Maynard Espanol (second camera assistant), Sonya Paclob (video/technical assistant) and most of all my wife, Grace, and our kids for putting up with my grouchy ways before a big presentation. I would also like to thank Grace for the most perfect projection set up, too. I wouldn’t have been able to complete this task without all of your help. Last, but not least, I’d like to thank Jhena & Adam for choosing us and for being such video hams for their little video presentation. Congratulations on your new life together and enjoy showing this to your future kids!

Priscilla & Ernesto’s Wedding Highlights (HD)

Let me ask this question, what is the definition of a video sound bite? So this is what I found when I looked it up. In film and broadcasting, a sound bite is a very short piece of a speech edited from a longer speech or an interview. Sound bites stand out better in the audience’s memory and thus become the “taste” that best represents the entire “meal” of the larger message or conversation. Sound bites are a natural consequence of people placing ever-greater emphasis on summarizing ever-increasing amounts of information in their lives.

So it was my mission to find a few sound bites and ambient sounds for Priscilla & Ernesto’s wedding highlights. It took a good 18 hours to just edit this short piece. But I enjoyed experimenting with the original video dialog. I feel it is more powerful than just hearing the music alone. I still think I need more improvement with this editing style. Hopefully, my videos will keep evolving until I can reach that point of excellence.

This wedding had the perfect couple, lighting and Ernesto had the coolest suit (Barong). As far as Priscilla, she was funny, too.
Enjoy and watch the memories!

A bride and groom with class! I get butterflies in my stomach just watching.

April & Lawrence “Love on the Boardwalk” (HD 16:9)

What happens when you have these three ingredients? A simple idea, a fun couple and videographer with a crazy (and sometimes crude) imagination. Surprisingly the answer is a cute video. A few months ago, April and Lawrence emailed me with this simple script for a video presentation they wanted to show at their wedding reception. The video idea was just to have a romantic picnic on the beach while Lawrence proposed. I said, “Is that it?” So I said, “ Let’s take it to another level—let’s add some conflict and a little bit of humor to this idea.” But first I had to ask if their guests would be offended with this type of humor. I just had this gut instinct that Lawrence was a ham and this “think-outside-of-the-box” idea would work well. They knew their guests would enjoy it so they gave me the green light to direct and develop the story. So the video ended up rated G and the rest is history.

David & Denise’s Highlights Intro (SD)

What a cute couple and they had greatest first dance! This video has made me realize that you don’t have to put scenes in chronological order to show the wedding day. It all makes sense at the end. To see parts of the fun reception go to: visionaryprohd

Jesssica & Joel’s Wedding Video Intro shot in HD

Being perfectionist has its problems, but I’m going to have to be satisfied. This video turned out great and l love the quality of HD footage. But besides the quality of shooting in HD. I believe what you hear is more important than what you see. Picking up good quality sound is more important than anything else in video. It is the the emotions that we feel when we can hear the original thoughts and voices from the video. Something that can’t be replicated by just looking at photos or video images with just music. To me capturing good vocal sound is practically 80% of the success. Can you imagine not hearing your vows? With our recorders and cordless microphones we captured it all with Jessica & Joel’s wedding.
